Whether it’s painting a wall, staining a large fence or other home fitments – it’s a pain.
Here we’ve written a full, in-depth Titan 440 review so you can leave all that behind you. There are a lot of Titan paint sprayer reviews online, but most are gibberish, we’d like to clear that up once and for all.
The Titan Impact 440 Paint Sprayer is an entry-level professional airless spray gun which can be used regularly for commercial interior and exterior projects.
It’s also an excellent machine for a home owner with a lot of decorating work, anyone that owns a large home with big grounds or commercial premises owners that need a machine that will last 3+ years to keep on top of factory walls, garages and more.
Paint sprayers are not new – they have been used commercially for many years – but it is only in recent years that developments in technology have made modern versions very versatile, often extremely portable, surprisingly cheap and very easily usable for the untrained hand.
There are many different types of paint sprayer available which use different types of technology, Airless, HVLP & handhelds just to mention a few.
It can be difficult to recommend one that will suit everybody as every requirement is slightly different, but if you’re planning on decorating more than just a few walls here and there, an airless spray gun is probably the best bet.
We want to talk here about a model that has caught our eye over the years, and for many reasons; it’s very impressive and one of the best paint sprayers that is both powerful and versatile, and is one that could easily be used by a commercial sprayer as much as it could by a home DIY user.
Let us introduce to you our Titan 440 Impact review, a very impressive spray system from a big brand with some highly acclaimed features.
Airless Paint Spraying with a Titan 400
The Titan 440i Impact is one of the more modern breeds of airless spray guns that uses a technology known as ‘airless spray technology’.
Airless Technology explained
Airless technology has been a mainstay of interior and exterior decorating for some time, and is the preferred method for in-the-home and garden decorating, and with DIY users.
The reasons are many; firstly, you don’t need a compressor as there is no element of compressed air involved. In the case of airless, the flow is provided by a piston pumping action which builds high pressure within the machine, with the piston being driven by a large motor that is built into the sprayer.
Pressure pushes the paint down the hose, through the gun and then atomized out of the spray tip, and adjustment of these – or the use of different sized tips – is how you choose the width or type of paint spray that you want to achieve.
The result is a highly efficient method of delivering a spray, and very fine, often detailed, smooth results. Many of the best airless paint sprayers – the 440 Titan sprayer included – can be fitted with a variety of sizes of spray tips, for different results and spray patterns, as well as being fully adjustable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor work.
This makes them less wasteful, more accurate and provides a better finish than your traditional air compressor-driven sprayer.
So, is the Titan Impact Sprayer the one for you?
Well, it made on the Paint Sprayer Guide to airless top 5 list of all time best paint sprayers, and as we said earlier in this Titan 440 Impact review it’s a semi heavy-duty model, so it’s perfect for handymen, contractors or for people will larger than normal decorating requirements.
Let’s take the time to have a look at some of its main features and how an airless sprayer works, so you can compare it to others and see which one is the right one for your own needs.

About the 440 Titan Paint Sprayer
First, this is not a small machine and it is not designed for precision work – if you want portability and precision in your spray there are others that you may wish to consider first, such as handhelds or HVLP sprayers.
Find the best HVLP spray guns here.
It is a robust and well-made chunk of metal and one that will happily tackle any job that you throw at it.
What is different about this one is that it has a skid-style base which means it’s compact and sits low on the floor (as opposed to hi-cart spray guns which often sit high on legs above a container on the floor below, such as seen in our Graco X7 review.
Despite it being quite heavy, it is relatively easy to move around and although not as portable as some models, with power, comes weight so you will always have a trade-off based on your painting requirements.
Titan 440 Paint Sprayer Specs
Let’s run through some of the specifications and pros and cons of the Titan 440 airless paint sprayer:
330 PSI working pressure
The Titan paint sprayer is capable of a very powerful spray delivery thanks to its powerful electric motor and turbine system.
The powerful 300psi pressure is sometimes too much for finer work, but Titan has provided a pressure knob that can be adjusted easily, so you get a wider choice of settings and potential spray coverage.
Interchangeable spray tips / spray nozzles
With any airless spray system, the beauty of the design lies on the accuracy with which you can spray, and that down to a small part to the spray tip, known as the spray nozzle.
Different size tips provide different levels and types of spray – you can purchase 100+ different tip sizes that vary both the spray width and the amount of flow.
Thicker materials will require larger flow rates and thinner paints lower flow rates so it’s well worth checking the materials datasheet to find out what tip size is recommended. You can also find guides and tables available online to that help you correlate viscosities and tip sizes with spray fan widths.
Note: You can purchase most spray tips for the Titan paint sprayer on Amazon here.
The Impact 440 paint sprayer can be fitted with a full range of alternative spray tips up to a maximum of 0.023″ – more than adequate for good and sensible even spraying and coverage of quite thick materials such as masonry paint, emulsion and more.
It can also be fitted with tips down to 0.011″ very fine work, such as gloss pint, so is extremely versatile in terms of adjustability.
The tips are also reversible (just turn them around), which aids the cleaning process and to clear clogs (which will occur with all modern spray systems).
Various Viscosities and Materials
You may be using your Titan Impact Paint Sprayer for a variety of different purposes, so the fact it can spray paint plus latex and enamels, various stains and lacquers is a major selling point.
It’s ideal for everything from painting interior walls and exterior walls (or using exterior paint indoors), woodwork, through protecting coats on fences and outdoor buildings.
With that said, you will still need to properly prepare your interior walls for painting.
Powerful Motor
Like all airless sprayers, the Titan 440 sprayer is powered by an electric motor that drives a turbine, and this one is a reliable and very powerful motor that will certainly do the required job.
It comes with all filters (gun and second stage filters) that are needed to provide reliable and constant performance and is designed for long life with reasonably low maintenance.
As the Impact 440 is classed as a professional grade machine, it will require servicing after it’s rated gallon usage which can mean taking the sprayer to a repair shop for up to a week.
7.5 Metre Spray Hose
The 440 Impact comes with a lengthy 7.5-meter spray hose, so you can reach all the areas you need to without having to move it all the time.

Final Thoughts – Review Summary
As Titan airless paint sprayer reviews go, the Impact 440 paint sprayer is a very capable airless spray system that is built to a high standard, and one that can easily handle heavy duty work – even that regularly performed by professional contractors.
But the question remains: is it the right model for you, for your personal requirements and price budget?
If you are a contractor and are looking for a powerful, versatile Titan airless paint sprayer that will be able to tackle almost any job you need, the Titan 440 Impact is certainly one for your shortlist, but it’s also worth checking out our Graco ProX17 review before you buy as you’ll the two machines are very similar when it comes to technical specs.
It is robust, powerful and well-made, is well-equipped and easy to use and maintain, and is compact enough – at just 19x23x19inches – to fit in a van without taking up too much space.
As it’s a professional grade machine, it’s also a serviceable machine which means you can buy Titan 440i parts online and there are retailers that specialize in servicing Titan machines. Keep an eye out for our Titan 440i review coming soon.
If you are having difficulties with your machine, there’s a great troubleshooting section in the Titan 440 manual.
For homeowners, or DIY enthusiasts, this Titan paint sprayer is also a contender, but with a few notable and worthwhile provisos. First, it is not the most easily-moved model – at not much less than 50lbs in weight it is quite hefty – so if you want to carry it up and down stairs on a regular basis, there may be other models better suited to consider.
However, that’s not to say you should not include the Titan Impact on your list of possible purchases as, while not the cheapest model out there, it has a brilliant reputation and will last you many years with endless performance and complete reliability, coupled with great results and the ability to cover large areas in no time at all.

Is this sprayer better than the graco 210es? Not factoring money into consideration?
Performance wise, there’s not all that much in it. Also build quality is pretty much on par between the two pumps.
What I would say, the Graco 210ES has the easy to swap out packing kit that’ll save you $1000’s over the years in repairs if you’re a professional painter/contractor. To replace a packing kit/pump system is generally upwards of $250 and 1 to 2 weeks out of action.
Depending on how much you’re spraying, this will need to be done once or twice a year with regular use.
Paint sprayer repair is an expensive pain in the backside, which costs a fortune upfront and can also put you out of work for days/weeks as you have to leave your machine with a repair center.
Being able to repair the core parts of the system yourself is a HUUUUUGE benefit for professionals that is hard to put a price on.
A TIP FOR OTHER BUYERS WONDERING WHERE TO BUY
The Graco 210ES is on Amazon as well, Amazon probably have the easiest return system in place for paint sprayers if you aren’t happy with the result or performance, they’d rather issue a quick refund upon return than lose a loyal lifetime customer. Home Depot .etc will want more of a reason than ‘I didn’t like it’ once you’ve filled it full of paint and made it dirty 😉
Hope that helps! 🙂
Yeah, thanks a lot!
Yeah, thanks alot! As there ain’t any repair centers I knew of down here, ur feedback is really helpful!!!👍
Can you spray cars with it if get the specialized car paint ??
Hi Chad,
Noooo please don’t try this. These airless sprayers put out paint so quickly you’ll never be able to achieve even close an acceptable finish. You’ll have drips, drips and more drips. I mean, if it’s an old CAT excavator and you don’t care about finish, sure it’ll do ‘a’ job, but this is not at all suitable for spraying a car I’m afraid.
It’ll be a $1000 expensive purchase, followed by an even more expensive attempt at getting your car completely sanded and resprayed.
Check out these sprayers for cars, or potentially these Plasti Dip sprayers if you’re on a budget.
Hope this helps!
